Why no comments?

A few people have asked why comments are turned off here.  The reason is simple: I only have time for composing posts on weekends, and an occasional weeknight, but I have zero time for near-real-time monitoring of comments.  (My provider has not invented a profanity filter or a nut filter yet, so I have little choice but to turn comments off.)  However, I am interested in legitimate questions or comments, so please submit them via the Suggestion Box (my email), at the bottom of the left column.

UPDATE, July 16, 2005:  TypePad has recently made several excellent improvements to their comment-management functionality.  Although this is nudging me closer to turning comments on, I'd still need to find the time to monitor them at least once a day—time I don't have quite yet.  Maybe soon . . .
