My recent article (Face it, Ed: It's a Duck) was a response to some ill-considered Reagan bashing by Ed Kilgore (Policy Director, Democratic Leadership Council), in his article that was primarily about bashing Bush:
...it literally never crossed my mind that Bush's fans would credit him with for [sic] this positive event [in Lebanon], as though his pro-democracy speeches exercise some sort of rhetorical enchantment.
Looks like Ed should also think again about Bush, not just Reagan—because today, NM Gov. Bill Richardson ("a prominent Democrat often mentioned as a possible presidential candidate") said he sees evidence of another duck:
The president, in talking about freedom and democracy, is sparking a wave of very positive democratic sentiment that might help us override both Islamic fundamentalism that has formed in that region and also some of the hatred for our policy of invading Iraq.
On second thought, I suppose it's possible that Kilgore was already counting Gov. Richardson as one of "Bush's fans."
